Selected Press Excerpts

"Szasz and Voicu nurtured the city's beautiful friendship with chamber music ... The circumstances couldn't have been better -- Szasz and Voicu playing confidently in a program of Italian sonatas, a packed house listening earnestly, and a space that may be second to none in the Southeast for chamber music ...This was as good as it gets for small-ensemble listening."

"Messiaen's (Quartet for the End of Time) finest moment comes in the finale, "In praise of the immortality of Jesus." Szasz and Voicu performed brilliantly, the piano chords and high violin notes fading to celestial silence. It was a moment to be savored."

"At the Heritage Concert, the duo presented a program including the violin sonatas of Bach, Schumann and Ottorino Resphigi, as well as the world premiere of “Serenata Quasi Una Notturna,” by Joseph Landers. Landers, UM associate professor of music, composed the work especially for the event. “I’ve always been a big fan of Daniel and Alina —I’m always inspired by going to their concerts. I was honored to write a new work for them,” Landers said."
Montevallo News

"This Concertmaster and Friends event at Brock Recital Hall featured the husband and wife team of Daniel Szasz and Alina Voicu exploring the romantic composer's (Schumann) capriciousness with probing depth ... The light rendering and floating gestures of the opening movement gave way to the flighty second movement and fiery finale, the couple delivering power, restraint and lyricism in equal parts, never succumbing to maudlin sentiment."
